Maya is all business when she's on the job: keen, fearless and efficient. She's not beyond giving a nip when needed but in most her overall gentle and diplomatic touch means sheep like and trust her. She's a reliable sheepdog that can hold her own on the farm, whether in the pens, working flocks or small groups, loading the trailer... She isn't afraid to dive into tight spots, she can lie and watch you work in the pens or work other dogs for hours without interfering and be ready to jump in right away when asked. She gets the job done and you can trust her to not do anything stupid but still take initiatives when needed. She's on whistle and voice commands.
Maya has been trialling in Open class in France and abroad since she was 2 years old. At that age she represented France in the European Nursery Championship in Holland and the Mediteranean Championship in Portugal, ran in the Bala trial in Wales in August and then qualified for the final in the legendary Vivod trial (a feat she repeated in 2018).
She was qualified for the French championsship 2017 and 2018 (ranked 26 in France 2018, see ranking list here), but since only two dogs per handler are allowed to run, she gave up her space for her mother.
Maya is not the type of dog that needs to work every day or she'll go bonkers. Off-the-clock she's a sweet, cuddly girl who is extremely loyal and who loves nothing more than to spend her days discreetly by your side, whether next to you in the car, under your desk or watching you repair fences. She is used to long car journeys, travelling and sleeping in the car.
She lives in the house but can also sleep in a kennel.
She's easy to handle and we believe she'd be a very good first dog.
It is important for us that Maya not only has a home where she can work, but also be part of the family.

Maya donne tout quand elle travaille; vif, enthousiaste, intrépide et efficace. Elle est un chien ferme de tout travail: dans les parcs, charger la betaillere, deplacer des grand lots, des petits groupes... Elle a ses commandes en voix et sifflet.
Elle n'a pas peur de rentrer où c'est serré, elle peut rester calme est regarder le travail fait dans la bergerie ou par des autres chiens et intervenir tout de suite quand demandé. On peut lui faire confiance de ne jamais faire des betisses mais aussi de prendre des initiatives intelligents quand il faut. Elle est facile à conduire et nous pensons qu'elle ferait un très bon premier chien.
En dehors le travail Maya est une fille douce et câline qui est extrêmement fidèle et qui n'aime rien de plus que de passer ses journées discrètement à votre côté, si ca soit sous le bureau, à coté vous dans la voiture ou en vous regardant reparer des clôtures. Elle est habituées au grands voyages et de dormir dans la voiture.
Elle vit dans la maison mais elle a aussi l'habitude de dormir dans un chenil.
Nous cherchons pour Maya non seulement un lieu de travail, mais aussi une famille dont elle peut faire partie.
